Line Graphs
Tracking metrics that matter is one of the most effective ways RESULTS helps you keep your company strategically aligned, and so we've made it even easier. Now when you open a Goal, you can toggle the visualization from a bar graph to a line graph. The new line graph option can make it easier to track trends over time:
Views
As with the bar graph, you can toggle a line graph to show Days, Weeks or Months over the graph's timeframe. (We've expanded your options for these views, too – more on that below.) Also notice the tick marks along the X axis, which will make it easier to find your place on the line:
Notice the green dot at the end of each time segment. Hover over one to view that point's exact value, as well as its target and variance at that time:
Time Range and Visualization Improvements
Now that you can set your own Fiscal Year in RESULTS, you can use it as the timeframe for graphing any Goal. "Last Fiscal Year" is now one of the built-in ranges:
We've made two changes to the way labels are shown along the X axis. First, when you're in Week or Month view, you'll now see a two-digit year included in the label, making it easier to evaluate data across multiple years.
When in Day view, not every day has a label because that crowds the screen. Instead, RESULTS will show up to 24 labels, and the tick mark for the labeled days will be thicker than the tick mark for unlabeled ones:
We've made it possible to see greater granularity across longer timeframes as well. Now you can view Weeks over a 4 year range, and you can view days over a 1 year range:
Link Goals
We are very pleased to inform our clients who have multiple locations, franchises, and/or interlocking corporate structures that they can now link Goals that are in separate instances of RESULTS.
Boards can now draw metrics from several locations into their instance of the application, giving them a global view of all their enterprises at once. Franchisors can do the same across their franchises. Executive leaders can pull metrics from global subsidiaries into a single overriding understanding of their operations.
The integration can be as involved as needed. Often a home office will want to track a new remote office quite closely for a period of time, but they will want to evolve to a point where the need to track only one or two metrics. This functionality is perfect for that, too.
The Multi-Company Option is already available to you. Once permissions are granted, the Link Goals function pulls metrics or projects from the child instance into the parent instance. The child cannot pull from the parent.
Right now, Site Administrators can attach two instances of RESULTS on their own. Attaching three or more will require back-end assistance from your Account Manager (support@results.com).
To link two instances of RESULTS, begin in the parent instance. Navigate to the Results LInk function from your main menu:
In the Manage Links tool, click on "+" to open the permissions request panel on the right. Provide the email of the Site Admin of the child instance of RESULTS, edit the message if you'd like, and then click "Submit" to send it:
Now, in the child instance, when that Site Admin navigates to their Manage Links tool they will see a pending request. Simply click the "✓" to grant permission:
Once the connection is established, the request will move into the Established Links section in both instances of RESULTS:
Now, when creating new goals in the parent account, you will have a new, "Link Goals" option:
The "New Goal - Link Goal" panel will show the name of the child instance under the "Org. Links" heading. If your Account Manger has helped you link several instances, they will all appear here. Click the radio button next to the child instance from which you want to select a goal.
The dropdown under "Link Goals" will then display all the projects and metrics contained in the child instance of RESULTS. Select one and click 'Next'.
You can follow the regular goal creation process to complete the setup. Since a LInk Goal pulls it's data from a child instance of RESULTS, you can only edit a few properties in the parent instance:
- Goal Name
- Scope
- Owner
- Team
- Goal Time Zone
After a Link Goal is created, in the Properties tab you can see the name of the child organization, the child Goal's name and its owner's name:
